"Goldman Initiates Equinix At Recommended List, $20 Target (EQIX)"

I was quite surprised by this initiation by one of the co-lead underwriters so soon after the IPO. I e-mailed one of the IPO gurus about this and they said it may be a situation where the company had previously issued publically traded bonds, which would therefore allow the underwriter to comment before the QP expiration.

"On virtue and profits"

The press has a hard time coming to grips with an IPO stock that looks really good but which has not popped up by a massive amount on the first day of trading. The IPO websites like to focus on the first day "pop". The "pop" makes a good story for the evening news, but is largely irrelevant to individual investors like me who buy on the open market. With very few exception, the more they pop the worst investments they tend to have been for individual investors who are not in on the IPO. It's the IPOs that are not hyped up much, like EQIX and SGSF, and which are pretty much overlooked that end up making us money - (especially when they come out at a time when people are burnt out on the IPO market) not the heavily hyped PALM, LNUX and FMKT type IPOs with ski slope after market charts.
