Long post:
That you find my posts here somewhat amusing is possibly the best that I can expect. Seems like I'm getting beat up on most every thread I post on lately. (I have to go hunker in the bunker at Jimbo Cobb's thread.) And the threads I start, nobody will visit me. (Okay, maybe there's been one person on one thread.)

Not sure why you think I'd be critical of Charles Dow's methods. That he looks too much like the hirsute Smith Bros. cough drop man, is another story.

Adairm, your profile and your relationship to CANSLIM totally perplex me. You have an MBI. Ergo you were taught finance and valuation - discounted cash flow, methods for evaluating companies. CANSLIM makes no use of that, is that not so?
You buy Gorilla and Kings. Yet we know they fluctuate quite a bit. Wouldn't CANSLIM say get out at some point? Didn't we get to that point anywhere since the highs of Feb. or March? I don't know, but if so, that means you've held?? Or looked at differently if Mr. O'Neil's methods say buy now or okay to buy now Cisco, if CSCO drops 8% you as a CANSLIM person would say get out? but as a G&K follower you'd say, hold and maybe buy more? You own JDSU and it's tripled because of CANSLIM. Which means you follow its chart more than its business or is it that you own JDSU because it's a Gorilla and you know and follow its business prospects? You are attributing, from your post anyway, your success with JDSU solely to Mr. O'Neil's CANSLIM??

Since you asked, I can mention a bunch of stocks that I'm buying now, but they'd be beat down value stocks (well, value stocks in my opinion-- although the people on the value thread would not necessarily agree nor buy them either). These would include T, BMCS, COHU, PH, BYD or Buffett stocks like GCI. I am harvesting stocks purchased years ago - BLOCA, HSB (buyout today), MRVC (taking short term trading profits). (Believe I'll take -mad-jon's advice on SUNW and hold --for a bit longer maybe. Too bad I'm too diversified to ever have made huge bucks on SUNW- although the small amt. I have has masked many errors made with other stocks.) I'd guess the stocks I am buying have no interest for people on this thread - and I am quite sure at least one of these stocks has zero interest for anybody else on SI. No matter. I say they'll work out okay, on average anyway -g-.

One stock that I like (and am buying) that I am totally amazed has almost no interest (well one person + me)on SI is Huffy (HUF). They are dominant in the scooter craze that is sweeping the USA. I would've believed surely that there would be a few people on SI willing to plonk down a few bucks to play the fad. --g- Maybe it's personal--- People are interested in Huffy all right, but nobody wants to talk with me about it. Okay. -g- Maybe I'll just wait until it breaks out or something so it'll be profiled in IBD and scoot (-g- sorry) up in price. I'll like selling it to some of you CANSLIP, er... CANSLIM guys at higher prices when you get interested in it.

Paul
who has been wrong many, many times. And
who very possibly cannot match the investment success of CANSLIM people, but who believes he is still moving forward in trying to achieve his own financial goals.
