Bah. I have no reliable way of tallying OEM availability, but at least at the component market I have an idea. By my method of counting (admittedly not the only way of doing it), the Athlon-1000 blipped into the component market a week or two after the part was announced but took all the way until the last frickin' week of Q2 before reaching volume availability.

The Athlon-1100, imho, is getting into that market even faster. All we've had is a wussy preannouncement and it already has those entries (got them less than a week after the press release). I believe that it will take decently less than the three and a half months the 1.00GHz part took for the 1.10GHz part to hit my arbitrary "volume" mark.

Sometimes you have to drop yourself towards the tactics of your opponent. AMD isn't being honest, but neither is Intel. Or Transmeta or VIA or Apple and you can probably add all the server chip makers into that list of dishonesty as well. This was an apt time for them to start the light fibbing, and believe me when I say that they're being very timid with their fibs. I wouldn't complain unless they preannounced a 1.50GHz Athlon this quarter (er, I guess while Dell gets a $200 stock price, or something, according to that in-joke) or something really stupid like that.
