DDR DIMMs- Now available from Smart Modular Technologies 8/16/00 SMART Modular Technologies, Inchas launched an on-line ordering system for obtaining DDR DIMMs. SMART now offers this system, which provides quick, easy, and immediate DDR DIMM support to motherboard manufacturers, VARs, integrators, and channel customers who are ramping up their Athlon-based DDR platforms. ... Current module availability includes 200MHz 128MB and 256MB unbuffered DIMMs along with 128MB and 256MB registered DDR DIMMs. Other densities such as 64MB and 512MB are available with minimal lead-times. The DDR DIMMs are configured as x64 and x72 using 16Mx8 and 32Mx4 devices.
SMART has been working closely with Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. to build an assortment of DDR DIMMs for AMD's system-level validation process. In addition, SMART is conducting device and DDR DIMM validation testing for AMD, ServerWorks, and Via Technologies. simmtester.com

P.S. While this is the first Simmtester reporting of this news, it isn't really that new, except for the on-line ordering feature. SMOD started supplying DDR to all those nonexistant DDR motherboard designers back around 6 months ago. And Micron already has DDR DIMMs available on line. But it is nice to have alternate sources coming up on line. |
