IBM To Name Websphere Starting Team In September

This is likely to be a baseball-size team with six to nine key partners. Since the article places a heavy emphasis on the 5,000-lb, thin client, the auto, I expect that GMGC will be named as a starter, right field perhaps or second base. Since this week's GMG press release used the word "contemplation," I think that it is not quite a done deal. I assume the agreement outlines the condition under which GMGC must live if placed on the team. There is still some chance of a signing bonus.

I believe it is very important that GMGC make the starting team (get named in the announcement). Being a bench player for the Webspheroids wouldn't be all bad, but a little punch is needed since Virtual Advisor preliminary results won't be known until perhaps March or April.

If named to the team, another bounce can be expected since the events of the past week showed that General Magic has enough of a retail following to move on the simplest good news.

Looking back it appeared to be smart money on Monday afternoon (10-Q leaks?) and amateur money on Wednesday. The Wednesday move was on a Tuesday evening press release that repeated the same news that appeared on Monday evening in the 10-Q. The release in the 10-Q was greeted with a big yawn on Tuesday. The news repeated in the press release drove a nice rally.

Here is the link on the IBM announcement plans as posted by Gizmotchy on Raging Bull:
