In the morning when I let the dog out, I leave the storm door closed and the front door open. The storm door is glassed, so I am not letting all the air conditioned air out. The kitties come and put their feet up on the glass and look out at the world, wide-eyed.
When I got up this morning the air was cool, so when I let the dog out, and the kitties acted like they wanted out, I left the storm door open on its sliding thingamajig. The kitties went out, very slowly, and came running back in when a car went by. Then they went out again, very slowly, but came running back in when a lady passed by walking a dog. Then they went back out and have been milling around out there on the front stoop and in the bushes along the foundation for the last hour, crouching down when a car goes by. I sat on the stoop for a while drinking my coffee, and they seemed to be ok so I came in to talk to you guys.
I just went out and called them and they came running, but when I tried to close the door they acted like they wanted back out, so I left the door open again.
They aren't really doing anything, just looking at everything, with very wide eyes ("like saucers", as they used to say in the old days). But they seem to like it.
Correction: William (the growler) caught a bug, and is eating it and growling. Kiwi is trying to catch a bee. Arthur is rolling around in the sun, and rippling his fur with pleasure. |
