Sonny ---Finaly got back to the Forest article ---This is the same exact issue that we had with Yellowstone about seven years ago . By fighting the fires we are not letting nature take it's course thus the underbrush keeps building up until we have a year like this with the lack of moisture . We need to protect people houses and we need to set fires in normal years to control the fuel source for these fires . A hands off policy is waiting for a disaster to happen . The environmentalist are wrong in this area .
Also reminds me of our lack of an energy policy and air transportation policy . Their was a statement on CNNFN of what has happen to these two issues over the last ten years and as usual we are our own worse enemies . GDP has gone up 64 % in the last ten years but we have not built a new major airport in the United States ( in Denver we replaced an existing airport ) in the last twenty five years . So we double the number of airplanes and wonder why we have a major traffic congestion problem . On the energy front part of the dramatic increase in gas price in the mid west was the lack of refinery capacity . We have not built a new refinery in the US in the last ten years due to environmental concerns . Their has to be a balance to these issues that we have controlled over . I am normally not a big fan of big government but when we need a rational national policy someone in the capital should step forward and take the lead and the heat to resolved the above issues . Just wishing ---I guess
