JC - RE: "Sometimes you have to drop yourself towards the tactics of your opponent. AMD isn't being honest, but neither is Intel"

Actually, I think AMD was completely frank in their press release. Unlike Intel, AMD announced they are only shipping the processors (which I didn't grasp at first since I didn't read the press release carefully enough) to computer makers and not that the actual processor came out, which happens on Aug. 28. But now that AMD has said this, I fully expect 1.1GHz systems for sale on Aug. 28.

One really interesting thing is that Lynn Comp is advertising 1.1GHz will be available at the end of the month for "only" $719. This price is significantly lower than what the 1GHz Athlon cost before the price drops, and Lynn Comp usually has higher prices so the processor probably will be available for about $700 once it hits the market. This leaves an empty spot at the top of the price sheet for a 1.2GHz processor to come out pretty soon.

PS: It's Dear Sir to you. ;)
