Les -

[I asked the pharmacist about it and he said they were not as accurate as the blood monitors. From what I saw on the shelves, most firms will offer a trade-in of $ 20 to $ 30 for a competitor's system. The difficult part is to get the blood droplet into the little hole on the strip to get it to run down to the sensor circuitry.]

Can you elaborate a bit? Are you really talking about the TheraSense FreeStyle? It IS a blood monitor. Instead of having to precisely place a substantial drop of blood in a hole on the test strip with other meters I've used, often having to repeat the finger prick and discard the test strip, the FreeStyle test strip just has to have the edge touched to a much smaller blood sample (while the strip is held in the meter) and the blood is drawn up into the strip, and the meter beeps when it has enough. After a short learning curve, I'm getting 100% yield for both the arm prick and the test strip measurement in about 1/4 the time.

Regards, Don
