The most important reasons to invest in a stock?

Many professionals buy on the cheap. Diversify and wait for the market to turn around. Neglecting one important fact, the market makers understand that investors favour the stock that they made some money in the past. Hoping to recapture another round of profit taking, some professionals have large and deep pockets and can influence the market makers. Many a times, a specialist with new cash pool will move the stock.

Should we the small investors seek a coat tail to ride on?

Many investors invest in Warren Buffett's investment, or get in and out along with him. I invested in H&Q's 80% owned stocks. Some other people invested in Paul Allen's ventures. Yet others invested in Vanrock associates'(Arthur Rock) ventures, made famous by initial funding of Intel and Apple with Rockefeller money. The list goes on and on. Don't feel bad, if I did not mention your name. These individuals are not the same as mutual funds; because they have large holdings and no restrictions of themes or specialties, only their own expertise.

If you don't do your own research, and do not want to diversify your portfolio; then this is a good way to invest. From time to time I will mention a few coat tails that you could ride on, if I get some encouragements?
