Peter, Do you bear Auric Goldfinger's short list in your mind, too?

A little more research, since all of the regulars on this thread keep insisting that Auric is a great short trader.

Here's a post of his from October 13:

"Today's POS: WPI Watson Pharmaceuticals. Off patent drugs (low margin); there is an FDA manufacturing issue that the company has not come clean on publicly. Bear Stearns giving you the uptick today...."

Message 11531270

On the same day, InfoStream committed what today would be heresy on this thread: he asked 'Auric' for clarification:

Any target on WPI, how do you know it is Bear? Is the target $28.5 or lower?

Message 11531336

And Auric even deigned to answer, again on October 13:

WPI: Bear just "(w)recd" it today. 1st Target 27, then 24.

Message 11533853

The result? WPI closed at 29 5/16 on the day of Auric's call. It went as low as 28 1/8 on the following day, but it never traded lower. Infostream's suggested target would have been hit, but Auric's guidance was to hold on for 27 or even 24.

Within two months, WPI traded as high as 42 7/16 (a price gain of 45 percent). Last month, WPI hit 59 9/16 (a price gain of 101 percent).

On Friday, it closed at 55 3/4 (a price gain of 90 percent). Has Auric issued the 'cover' signal yet? Is he still short WPI?

Perhaps Auric's followers bear his calls to cover in their minds, too. That is perhaps the only place where his short trading record remains 'stellar'.
