well i'm trying opera again this a.m. just so i can feel like i gave it a fair shake. i have no problem with it being different, that's fun, in fact. i really am focused on functionality here.

i still haven't seen the stop button, but i'll keep watching. i'm not crazy about the child window concept, and cascading is something i do with every window i open. so happens that opera cascades in the opposite direction that i prefer. wouldn't you know it. <g3>

i'll also empty cache more frequently (i've gotten into that habit with netscape as i browse) to keep it running smoother. last night it just completely bogged down on si while the other two browsers were up and flying. currently the cache setting is 2000kb, which for disk cache, is probably too low. i just reset it to 8000kb. that should make a difference.

also, opera did not remember my setting to empty cache on exit, but perhaps that has to do with a question it asks me when i close the browser. i'll pay closer attention to that this time. it did remember the setting suggested by gottfried to toos all cookies. i like that a lot!

so where in the heck does this stop button show its little self, anyway?

:)
