Absolutely correct!....But I don't think that Karma was saying he "despised politics." He was rejecting group-think, not politics per se.
For example, I am a registered Democrat (just as you are, I presume, a registered Republican), which means, to me, that I have the right to participate in a primary. (I did not register as an "Independent," because, in the state of Maryland, soi-disant Independents are in fact dependent on the Dems and the Reps to choose their candidates for them.)
This does not mean that I subscribe to some sort of orthodox Democratic group-think (although I confess do find the general mindset of Democrats more congenial than that of Republicans). There CAN be "no truth" (in the sense of Absolute Truth) in groups.
So I think I understand Karma's point of view, which was this:
How people ever allow themselves to be reduced to the simplistic labels of "liberal", :conservative", "neoretroanarchist", or whatever is beyond me.
When people do do that it is generally because they are looking for approval from the like-minded, IMO. |
