Of course, politics itself is all about group action. Karma was talking about something else: personal identification. And I would agree with him that when one defines oneself as an individual primarily in terms of one's group membership(s), one is likely to fall prey to "group-think."

EDIT: And besides, most of the "groups" to which people claim to belong are not true, organized groups at all: examples here are "liberals" and "conservatives." Such terms denote ideological concepts. not goal-oriented organizations. Many liberals/conservatives/whatever don't do any "acting" on the political stageat all, outside of voting once a year. But they may "talk" a lot, and spout a lot of group-think.
