Electronic Engineering Times reports that Mitsubishi will begin taking orders in July, for shipment commencing in November, for its new gate array product which utilizes Simox SOI from its Mitsubishi Materials subsidiary (which receives its wafers from IBIS). Expects SOI business to reach $80 million by 2000.

The product can be used in SRAMs and is 55% faster than bulk silicon and can operate on voltages as low as 1 v.

Additionally, according to latest 10-Q, IBIS has leased an additional 4800 sq. ft. of space and has purchased an option to 9600 more sq. ft. available by 8/1/98.
