Yes, only people who are close to animals will understand that they have a wide rand of emotions. I've also got a mare (Pete's mother). The herd 'boss' is actually the dominant mare. She is definitely at the top of the pecking order, and there's usually no struggle w/that- it is accepted by all. Pete will be possessive of her, as well... Bringing the new one in will involve a process of acclimation for all. Glad you're back on the Porch! cowgirl
