I believe that would be called Global Warming.. greenhouse gas emissions etc. from pollution.

In the rush to maximize profit, companies who cant take a slight hit in the pocketbook to put up to date pollution controls in place , and countries who have lax laws to enforce against them (or dont bother to) will eventually cause the downfall of the planet if they dont smarten up. When coastal areas get flooded and everyone wonders what happenned, they need only to look at their own short-sightedness to get the answer.. (this also applies to acid rain and CFC emissions)
