Sympathy. Being there, doing that.
We never want them to go away, let alone that far away. But they do.
And, truly, they should, hard as it is on us.
Have a friend whose son is at UCSC; loves it. Actually is in Europe this fall, just left, but thinks it's a great school. For what one vote is worth.
I think I've mostly gotten over the shock and grief of all three gone (girls went off last year). But they do come home for the summer, at least ours all do, so that's good. Fill up the emotional tank. Plus email is incredible. Girls write multiple times day, son only a few times a week, but at least they don't ONLY write when the need money, which seemed to be my only reason for writing home back, what, 30+ years ago.
Sympathy. But others of us have survived it, and you can too.
Maybe you need to start a new thread -- or retitle this thread -- "support group for parents whose children are leaving for college." Would get used a lot, I think. |
