I don't care whether George Bush is able to cut tax rates or not. Any tax changes will have to go through Congress and run the gauntlet of multiple interest groups. I wouldn't vote for him to cut taxes. I do care very much who is in the important position of appointing people to the Federal judiciary, including the Supreme Court. Unlike the tax issue, I know fully well that the next president will make many such appointments. I also know the unholy alliance between the plaintiffs' bar, the class action attorneys' bar and the Democratic party. These lawyers spent large $$ to defeat Bush when he ran for governor of Texas. Bush ran his campaign directly against them and won. These lawyers (surprise, surprise) are now opening their wallets for Al Gore. Take a look at the current Fortune's major article on Bill Lerach and the class action lawyers who have made a highly lucrative career in suing high tech companies. 3Com has been sued nine times by the same lawyers since 1989. According to the article, Mr. Lerach is a major contributor to the Democratic Party, and his contributions over the years have totaled more than $1 million. Congress passed the Private Securities Litigation Reform Act in 1995 to correct some of the abuses of the class action. How did it get past Clinton and Gore? With enough Democrats voting for it to override Clinton's veto. It sounds like the Dem spin doctors are working on your head. Take a long walk and get your perspective back.
