Matsushita and NTTPC to offer Internet access via ADSL It is going to be like I said: There won't be a winner will take all the Last Mile. It is just a matter of time and ADSL will pick up there as well. Matsushita and NTTPC to offer Internet access via ADSL RDSL 02 August 2000 Matsushita Electric Industrial has teamed up with NTTPC Communications to offer an ADSL Internet access service, set to launch on a trial basis on 20 August 2000 in certain regions of Osaka and Tokyo, both Japan. It will be offered through Matsushita's Panasonic Hi-Ho Internet access service, with the subscription fee waived until end-November 2000. NTTPC will make its IP backbone available to Matsushita. The service will use the type-I ADSL access lines for NTT West and NTT East, offering maximum data rates of 224 kilobits per second upstream and 512 Kbps downstream.
