RDSL

02 August 2000

Matsushita Electric Industrial has teamed up with NTTPC Communications to offer an ADSL Internet access service, set to launch on a trial basis on 20 August 2000 in certain regions of Osaka and Tokyo, both Japan. It will be offered through Matsushita's Panasonic Hi-Ho Internet access service, with the subscription fee waived until end-November 2000. NTTPC will make its IP backbone available to Matsushita. The service will use the type-I ADSL access lines for NTT West and NTT East, offering maximum data rates of 224 kilobits per second upstream and 512 Kbps downstream.
