You don't know much about modern farming. It's not all just throwing seed and praying for rain while the wife feeds the chickens. My brother is a good example of today's modern farmer. He has about 500 acres, but farms about 2500 acres. Where do those extra acres come from? Well, from retired farmers, and investors like me. The risk is shared and the huge capital expense that would be required is shared and reduced. The fields are monitored yard by yard by global positioning receivers attached to the sensors on the equipment. Without people like me, only corporations could afford a farm large enough to pay for the tractors. You should get with the times.
