Hi GZ! I basically agree with the thrust of your reasoning and where your sympathies lie here. What concerns me is when a serial killer is acutely schizophrenic and is diagnosed as Completely Insane and Far Gone with no hope of ever coming back into the human realm. What do you suppose should be done with a person like that? What kind of restitution can the families of the victims realistically receive? We saw the movie, "The Cell" on Sunday, which has raised some of these questions in my mind. If you haven't seen this movie, see it. You'll find it very illuminating and disturbing simultaneously, especially the pyschological aspects.
