Gee, to listen to you guys it would seem that I should not drive on public streets because that is taking advantage of one of the many benefits my government has to offer too.

Actually, there is a controlling legal authority which defines a farmer. It's all in the regulations from the Department of Agriculture and hasn't changed in my lifetime.

I own the land, I risk my money on seed, fertilizer, pesticide, and services, and for this I get the uncertain return of the crops grown. Legally I am a farmer and have the paperwork from the USDA so certifing. There is no regulation about whether I stick my butt in a tractor seat, or send my son to do the chores, or hire a host of migrant workers to do everything while I sit at home and watch TV. No it all boils down to financing the growing and receiving crops instead of a guarenteed payment. So far this year I have received a lot of bills and not one bean to sell.

I'm proud of what I do, and fortunately my self esteme does not depend on your opinion, nor the others who make such amusing insults on this thread. Maybe your opinion of the country would improve if you too would make investments and careers that actually help instead of constantly whining that it's not still 1926.
