Korea's CDMA exports up 55 % in first half

Korea's exports of CDMA (code division multiple access) system and handsets rose sharply in the first
half of the year.

According to the Ministry of Information and Communications, Korea firms have shipped a total of
$1.42 billion worth of devices and equipment for the mobile telecom service, up 55.5 percent from the
same period last year.

Samsung Electronics was Korea's largest seller in the sector recording $690 million worth of exports.

The ministry attributed the strong performance to the surge in demand in existing markets like the
United States and Australia, as well as in the emerging markets like China, Malaysia and Vietnam.
