I was looking in my IRA account and found I had a very small position in something called Aviva Petroleum (AVVPP). It must have got there from some takeover or spinoff--I declare I can't remember. But I took a look at the stock and like all the other gas/oils it's starting to make money--and in fact may earn in the next year as much as its purchase price, which is about 3/8.

The P/E seems to be somewhere between 1.5 and 2, depending on how it's calculated.

I never heard of any stock with such a low P/E and wonder if this might not be a good wildcat speculation.
