NTT - Bit of a longer timeframe contrarian play. International telecom's are all in the dumper - many near 52 week lows. NTT DoCoMo has hit it big in Japan with their I-mode wireless net service for cellphones. Extremely popular. They have been looking for inroads into the US market. Their deal to acquire verio is one step:

dailynews.yahoo.com

Their attempts to purchase Voicestream:

cbs.marketwatch.com

Their deal / rumored deal with AOL:

thestreet.com

their main thrust is to find the best way to bring their wildy popular I-mode service to the US market. If any of you have read anything about I-mode - you probably came to the same conclusion that I did - that NTT DOCoMo truly "gets it" when it comes to wirelesss web to cell phoes, and how to deliver and bill it in a fashion that makes it attractive to subscribers.

Add to that that NTT is at near term oversold, at or near support - well, I think its a more medium term contrarian buy here. (NTDMY - which trades OTC may be another way to play it). This is not really a short term trade pick in my mind, but an interesting opportunity nonetheless IMO.

just curious if others had any opinions on this
