Kana Continues International Customer Growth with United Kingdom Online Gaming Site; 100% success Rate for Blue Square Using Kana Connect

REDWOOD CITY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 2000--Kana Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:KANA), a leading provider of integrated enterprise relationship management (eRM) solutions, today announced that Blue Square, the UK's largest online betting site, has placed Kana at the core of its online marketing communications program. Blue Square is using Kana Connect to target their permission-based marketing campaigns precisely, to implement them quickly and efficiently and react to news, events and developments in real time.

Blue Square implemented Kana in May 2000 and has since undertaken four core marketing campaigns, including promotions entitled 'Flutter for Free' and Euro 2000. Kana solutions enabled Blue Square to target their messages so successfully that the un-subscribe ratio on both campaigns was zero.

For the 'Flutter for Free' campaign, Blue Square interacted with customers in both HTML and text, allowing for greater freedom of creativity. Measuring subsequent click through reports showed the appeal of each of these methods of messaging -- while the text click-through was 20%, the percentage for HTML messages rose to over 50%. Kana Connect also allowed Blue Square to test the size and content of each of the files due to be sent to customers, allowing them to refine or amend where appropriate.
