my second car was a 1965 ford falcon futura, 2-dr hard top. it just had the 200cu 6-cylinder in it, but it was very peppy, if you'll forgive the term. bought it in 1969 for $500. round about 1985 i began to 'restore' that car to original condition. i determined that it was made in lorraine, ohio, on a wednesday (i was told mid-week manufacture dates are better than monday or fridays because of absenteeism at the plant and replacement workers not being as adept as the regular guy). i used hemmings motor news and tracked down all sorts of way over-priced nos items, like nos hood ornament, dash pad, horn ring, deck lid molding, etc. etc. man, i am embarrassed to say how much money i dumped into that car. one guy even told me, "when you get all done you're STILL going to own a falcon!". <g3>

but the project turned out very sweet. i eventually sold it for about $5000 in 1988. very pretty car.

:)
