while i'm against government imposed standards regarding wages, i think this almost rabid anti labor stance isn't justified either...after all, it is only the top 10-20% of the populace that's really benefiting from the 'prosperity'. the rest have to slave away to meet payments on their debts.
i don't want to come across like a socialist, but one has to keep in mind that with an increasing rich/poor gap (Gini co-efficient), eventually re-distributive emotion may surface again in a much stronger manner. better to share some more of the pie now, and allow the less fortunate to participate a little bit in the boom while it lasts...
