Scrapps, I won't get into distinctions about first priority, all I can say is that when asked at conference calls MZ expressed not having problems getting ALA chips that other vendors have expressed. He undoubtedly knows whether or not ALA wants to leave the arena for CPE chips and I'm sure has a new solution planned if true. He hasn't told me. How about you.?
As far as complete solutions, Virata's helium solution is a solution for layers 2 & 3, layer one requires a 3rd party ADSL solution -- thats where ALA, ADI , ST Microelectronics or TI etc. can come in.
Virata's first complete solution is their beryllium: virata.com
VIRATA INTRODUCES BERYLLIUM AND BORON: THE WORLD'S MOST INTEGRATED ADSL SEMICONDUCTOR "Beryllium and Boron deliver an integrated layer 1, 2 and 3 ADSL solution, which is something no other company has been able to combine on a single chip,"
Products using Beryllium are for external devices and Boron for internal and are expected this fall.
I'm not sure where AWRE fits with VRTA since VRTA is providing both hardware and software solutions. VRTA does not list AWRE as a competitor in the 10Q I looked at.
Do you know what the relationship, if any, exists between VRTA and AWRE? Are they licensing AWRE solutions?
