Hi Jim. I edited to "probably" has years to go. WTI>$20, my gut feeling and the fact that we are already running low on the sweeter crudes.

In attempting to see the forest = big picture, like many others, I believe that we have entered a new age. The increased productivity of this information age has altered the realm of probabilities.

The world will certainly have future recessions, but the only likely cause for a really big one is a future shortage of energy. In fact a severe energy shortage is inevitable. It's only a matter of time. My children and grandchildren are more likely to see it than I am. Although in some respects we are seeing preliminary (correctable) shortages now. What concerns me is that historically humankind has tended to use migration to new frontiers and warfare in times of overpopulation and resource scarcity. There are no more new frontiers.

Maybe this thinking a little out of the box is somewhat OT.
