Pete, >Uptimes are in the many 9s levels.

Hard to believe, with the lashup of cables that must be required, vs. reliable backplanes.

There is a lot more to system specifying than cost. Service comes to mind first. Who maintains these things? At least the clusters of Xeon based servers, or Suns, will have a major company's service organization behind it.

Sorry, your 72 PC contraption will never sell to Fortune 1000 companies, who buy the vast majority of IT equipment. Nor will Exodus, Ebay, or Amazon types buy it. They want something they can put in and not worry about.
