Ebay is a cluster of systems running what is supposed to be mission critical software, and it crashed as I was using it a few weeks ago (I don't use it that often). I verified that the service had, in fact, gone down because I was talking to someone on the phone who had the same experience. I have been able to use many applications on my laptop, running Win2000 Professional, for over a month without shutting it down by using suspend/resume.

If you want to compare apples to apples (not saying you do), compare the crashes on the Dell site vs Ebay, not a low cost PC running a pre-NT OS vs a cluster of extremely expensive Sun machines running Sun's flagship, industrial strength system.

You're clearly smart enough to have full intent behind your comparisons and statements. It's too bad that you don't use more objectivity. I'm sure it would make for more interesting, thought-provoking reading.
