Bush and Cheney have a two edged sword in their hands with oil. Yes, it is shaping up as an issue ... but ... do they dare use it?

Daddy made his $ in oil did he not. How else did GWB pay for his playboy days?
Dick just got given ... yes ... given ... no contract ... $20 million by the Board at Halliburton upon his resignation to take up the VP slot. How many millions did you get when you left your last job? Was that a campaign contribution, or Big Oil buying friends.

The Democrats could get a lot of milage out of those friendly Republican connections.

Besides, when did we ever have an "energy policy" that made sense? Did Reagan? Did Nixon? I don't think so. Most energy "policy" has been in the form of tax breaks for the rich. Oh, there was that asinine shale oil policy back in the 1970's that allowed the government to throw buckets of money away. Much good that did! Such"policy" does not buy a lot of votes .. it may get political contributions, but not a lot of votes.
