Morning John:

siliconinvestor.com

So far no let up in sight which will hinder any pull back in the sector. This morning I heard (weatherman on the radio) that Debbie's chances of going into the gulf look better than going up the east coast. So any additional disruption will only make the supply problem worse.

Tom's buy yesterday looks good. I only have a small position in BR (won't add here since I beleive they gave flat guidance for this quarter). It appears I've waited too long expecting a continued decrease in August and September prices before a rise into fall.

The oil & gas companies will do well in an inflationary period until demand decreases (europe must be starting to have problems with the euro drop and oil hikes) and supply increases. They will be ahead of the curve (i.e. revenues increasing before costs) versus many other industries.

I would assume the labor shortages in the drilling area will make the supply shortage an issue for a couple of years unless demand drops (which won't happen until we have a serious slow down in the economy although the price issues will start to curtail use to some extent).

I would not be a buyer of auto companies right now. The US manufacturers are really going to be hit on a slow down of the high margin products.
