So Ricky Skaggs was awesome. He did a lot tunes from
Bluegrass Rules and Ancient Tones and a few more Bill
Monroe tunes, he also kept the spiritual stuff to a minimum.
He banter between songs was hilarious. He played for an hour.
$45 for a hour seems like a lot but I enjoyed the show more
than a massage and the massage is $70, so this was bargain.
We couldn't sit through the Everly's after seeing Ricky. One
of my friends left after Ricky's set, me and the other left
after 2 songs. I wasn't gonna sit there for an hour or more
just to hear Wake Up Little Susie, I have to do is Dream and
Bye Bye Love. The crowd, who was mostly there for the
Everly's really dug Ricky. Every solo was getting applause.
The women next me commented to her husband "Why don't we
see more stuff like this instead of the crap you drag me to?"
On the way out we got to say hello and good bye to a couple
of the guys in Kentucky Thunder who were in the lobby to
sign CDs. We told them we were probably the only people in
the building besides them in their crew going see them in Pa
on Saturday. One of them asked how far it was, when I
answered 3 hours and 45 minutes they did look a little surprised. They have off until that show so they're probably heading home today. I can't wait to see them again
and Del on Saturday.
