There's a short piece in the Scientific American that just came out, quoting U.S. Geological Survey oil geologists as saying that there is plenty of oil in the world, at least for another 20 years. If this is true, a brief run-up to $40 crude oil might stimulate enough exploration and pumping to bring the price back down for a while. Some people disagree strongly with the USGS figures, however.
