That's starting to sound like a BS line. AMD, imho, somewhat obviously took massive steps to increase demand by cleaving their selling prices beyond belief. There were news articles put up a few days ago about how AMD needed their last huge price chop in order to increase demand so that they can sell the number of units that they promised.

Personally, I think that since AMD is making hundreds of millions of dollars, it wouldn't hurt to spare twenty extra million on an advertising campaign which will allow the company to pull in fifty million more worth of more highly priced cpus as well as increase product awareness to arouse interest for an eventual sift into the business market.

From what it looks like, 2000 Q2 marketing plans aren't even finalized yet! Aargh!!
