The theory is that then only threat to a gorilla, other than simply living out its CAP without coming up with something new, is another discontinuous innovation. Is there any need for this DI to come from another company? The reason I ask is that there seems to be indications that we are beginning a rather broad trend toward applications where the user interface is a browser and all the "computing" is done remotely, whether on a local applications server or via the Internet. If this trend becomes widespread, it would seem to reduce the need for significant computing power on the desktop since it does take a lot to run a browser. Combine this with a bit of Christiansen, i.e., that processors are moving into a power realm where the exceed the requirements of most users, and don't we have an environment in which INTC is not threatened exactly, but certainly has a diminished growth potential?
