Transwitch (TXCC-$54 7/16-Cap $4.4B-Buy)

TXCC: Initiating Coverage with Buy Rating and $75 Target
FY00E: $0.41; FY01E: $0.59

· We are initiating coverage of TranSwitch with a Buy rating. TranSwitch is a leading provider of ICs addressing the SONET/SDH, ATM/IP and asynchronous (T1/E1) markets.

· We are introducing 2000 EPS estimates of $0.41 and 2001 EPS estimates of $0.59. Our revenue estimate for 2000 is $143 mm and for 2001 $216 mm, translating into 100% annual growth in 2000 and over 50% growth in 2001.

· TXCC’s continued growth is based on: positive macro trends in the comm IC segment, volume ramps from design wins back in 1999 and earlier, and executing successful introductions of the ASPEN and PHAST-12 products.

· We regard TXCC as a very attractive play for small or mid-cap investors that have otherwise been priced out of owning similar leading communications IC companies. We are setting our 12-month price target at $75, based on 27x our 2001 revenue estimate.
