John-- Do you have low self-esteem or are you simply a boor? I do not understand this incessant obsession with trying to demean AMD investors and imply that they are in some sort of delusional state. I don't know whether Dr. MIT Kludge creates it and you guys feed off it or Intel just attracts this type of investor. Intel's 1 GHz part became available about one month ago, four months after its "launch." It still has certain characteristics-- like a significantly reduced maximal junction temperature-- that imply it is near the end of the road for the P3 on the current process technology. The majority of AMD people do not dispute the current availability of the 1 GHz P3. That being said, AMD's part became available in volume several months before Intel's, and AMD's 1.1 GHz will be in volume three or four months before Intel's 1.13 GHz.

I thought AMD's strategy of not engaging in a maximal phallus size contest with Intel was wise when Jerry made his "revenue rights versus bragging rights" statement on cnbc in the spring, but I realize now that since the loyal acolytes of the Church of Intel can keep playing these games of denying reality or ignoring Intel's explicit "availble in limited volumes" statements in its press releases or dreaming about the Willenium "leaving AMD in the dust" "real soon now," AMD has probably made a rather poor marketing decision in paper launching faster Athlons. I guarantee you there are at least a few thousand 1.2 and 1.3 GHz Athlons sitting in the fabs that could easily be paper released and sold to one or two preferred oems with the understanding that they should sell the parts for $1800 to keep demand exceedingly low.
