I have seen rising wedges in the intraday time frame actually break to the upside. The price action preceding the wedge and also before its breakout from the wedge gave clues. The resulting price move ends up being impressive. Even though this is not a frequent occurance, it does happen from time to time. Price action can dominate over patterns.
