biz.yahoo.com SpeechWorks software used in Taiwan stock system BOSTON, Aug 23 (Reuters) - SpeechWorks International Inc. (NasdaqNM:SPWX - news) said on Wednesday its speech-recognition software for the Mandarin language would be used in a stock trading system in Taiwan. Customers of Taiwan's MasterLink Securities can place and confirm trading orders, check stock prices and get account information over the phone using the software, which SpeechWorks says is the first speech-enabled stock trading system in Mandarin. The company's systems integration partner is Systex Corp. of Taiwan. Shares in the company were off 5 percent, or 3-1/4, to 60-1/8 in early trading on Wednesday. The company declined to comment on the drop in share price, citing its ``quiet period'' following its initial public offering on August 1. Shares traded as high as 108-1/2 on August 9.
