Here's one more "visual" thing I like to use in RealTick.

You can set extremely specific colors in Time and Sales window (not the one on the L2; the actual T&S window). As trades go off, you can see the "river of colors" changing and get a sense of the direction, momentum and pivots of the stock.

Right click on the T&S window, select Change Colors...

Set the Uptick to Dark Green
Set the Downtick to Dark Red
Set the Above Ask to Bright Green
Set the Below Bid to Bright Red

Normal buying and selling uses dark colors and generally alternates on pivots. Buying pressure shows more Dark Green; selling pressure shows more Dark Red.

A preponderance of bright colors creates a visual flow of momentum -- big breakouts show large streams of Bright Green as everyone jumps above the ask to get in fast; big breakdowns show Bright Red as everyone bails under the bid.

In betweeners print black, so you can see the scalping "clumps" in between larger moves and at crucial pivots. And premarket, aftermarket and other irregular trades print as Purple.

I usually minimize this T&S window size by using a small font, and then clicking and dragging the column names until I only have Price and Volume showing. This enhanced T&S window is no bigger than the little non-enhanced one attached to the L2 window.

One other thing you will notice with this configuration is that you only see prints, but when bids and asks change between prints, the window scrolls with a blank entry. So big gaps of white with few prints can also show jockeying for position and potential reversals.

Highly visual for those who want to "feel" the flow.
