tejek, OT RE: taxes Taxes are a complicated issue. I have some perspective on this, I am a Texan born and raised (unofficial state motto "Just like Mississippi, but with better roads!"), and my wife is a German native (regular Green Party voter). The problem with taxes that are too high is that it tends to stifle job growth, look at most of Europe. On the other hand, Western Europe enjoys a larger percentage of middle class, there are many good sized cities that just don't have a "bad side of town". The downside to areas with high taxes is that there tends to be a lot of regulation, in New Jersey it is not legal to cut your own hair! Low tax areas tend to be the opposite, sometimes to a fault. There has to be some sort of middle ground, high enough taxes to have good services, but none of the little nit-picking regulation that kills opportunity.
