My comments are directly to the point, dispassonate and objective.
The military failed their own men...in the planning execution, and intelligence. How often have we heard the poor Pentagon cry they didn't have the neccesary tools, etc.
If it were the Isralies....those men would have been
in there, taken the hostages,

Iranians knew wht hit them.
*Originally , pre -Vietnam our main military focus and training in the special ops was targeted on the Middle East
not Vietnam, FYI. We were devoting the greatest amount of effort towards an invasion of the Middle East , and protection of the oils of that region.
The Russians wanted a warm water seaport, we were completely immersed in Iran under the Shah.
Had the Russians
chosen to go thru Afghanistan and thru Iran to the Mediteranean way back then , our troops were ready. Not for Vietnam.
So what happened in Iran, 20 years later, after all that original training for desert combat in the early sixties?
We knew every square inch of Iran , mapped and logged back in '61??
It was inept generalship and military intelligence that
caused that failure and so many other failures in the past.
And the generals blame the politicians...all a game!
And in the Contra affair , we kept that dirty little war going .... Just like we make the drug lords/politicians rich in Columbia....that we busted Noriega, in Panama?
