You're right about the dip trend and time frame. Adding to that, it depends on the momentum fever present at the time i.e. in high mo periods you don't get a shot at a dip trading at the IPO price. It's usually straight up out of the gate.

I too am not always this lucky but there have been several IPOs with the same "no brainer" characteristics. If I find another I'll be sure to let you know and hope you do likewise.
