None of us AMDroids really knows for sure what the rollout schedule for Willy is. Is it possible Intel is "sandbagging" for the first time in a couple years?

Maybe Intel can really make a million Willy's in Q4, some of them at 1.5 GHz. Its not likely since I think the suddenly larger die size implies a rather serious mask revision at the last minute. But did Intel really confirm the 217 mm number? (Am I remembering it right?)

Intel seems like it will be emphasizing integer performance with Willy. They alluded to placing heavy emphasis on encoding and decoding algorithms which their double speed ALU can be efficient at. Undoubtedly they've hand coded some Photoshop benchmarks to take advantage of the ultra-high L2 cache bandwidth and dual channel RDRAM bandwidth.

IMO, most people will believe that Intel has the fastest chip until AMD can match the MHz which may be just fleetingly in January.

So, summarizing, the key thing is production volumes. If Intel is not sandbagging, and they can only make a half million P4's or less, AMD will at least maintain market share.
