German PPI Rose in July at Fastest Pace in Nine Years (Update1)
.......... Inflation in Germany, and the rest of the euro region, has accelerated in
the past 18 months. Oil prices almost tripled, while the euro's 18 percent
slide against the dollar boosted the cost of imported goods, particularly
dollar-denominated raw materials. Investors expect the European
Central Bank to respond by raising interest rates for a sixth time in a
year, perhaps as soon as next week, to restrain prices.
