BlueKite.com Selected by Sprint to Enhance Sprint PCS Wireless Web Performance
BlueKite Provides Sprint PCS Customers With Optimized Mobile Access to the Sprint PCS Wireless Web
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 23, 2000-- Sprint PCS (NYSE:PCS - news), the nation's largest all-digital, all-PCS nationwide wireless network, has selected BlueKite.com to provide optimized mobile Internet access at speeds comparable to landline dial-up access to 56kbps via the Sprint PCS Wireless Web. The new Sprint PCS Enhanced Internet Connection enables customers to use a laptop or other handheld computing device connected to their Sprint PCS Phone to access e-mail, business applications and web sites as easily on the road as they do at home.
Sprint PCS will utilize BlueKite's optimization technologies to provide customers with a rich web-browsing experience characterized by performance-equivalent of 56kbps standard dial-up modem connections. BlueKite's solution optimizes the bandwidth of Web access over CDMA networks, consuming at least eight times less bandwidth than packet-switched mobile Internet services that are not yet BlueKite-enabled - thus enhancing the Wireless Web Enhanced Internet Connection on laptops, handheld PCs, and other mobile computing devices that are equipped with standard Web browsers.
